My Art Philosophy
I believe art should be appreciated for what it is, not what it means. In my art there are no deep hidden meanings. It is what it is. Art should be selective. An artist must know what to leave out of a painting. Not all that is seen needs to be painted. Art should have a concept. That concept should be clearly stated. The concept should be about shapes, light, color, contrast, or value, these ideas in themselves are abstract concepts that we all perceive in our own way. If I do a painting of an apple, it is not about the apple; it is about color or light. A landscape is not about trees; it could be about the color of the trees or the shape of the trees, anything but the tree itself. In closing, I believe art is essential to life on Earth. It is instinctive to all people. We all enjoy some type of art on some personal level.
